Wales Watchers
In the year 2000, the film series idea was first formulated with the commitment of High River Culture Centre. But then commitment expired in the year 2004. lack of community support being one of the main reasons. In the year 2005, a group of concerned lovers of moving images of fine films reorganized the same concept with some changes. We the romantic few, hope to keep this tradition alive, and we're sure that there are more of us, if given the opportunity. Screening the prominent Canadian, foreign and independent film for "one night showing" in a small town is not only a luxury but also a risky business. Therefore the support of the community is essential for the survival and success of this venture.
In 2000, when this concept was started, High River had the distinction of one of the very few small towns in whole Canada. This idea that if you're no longer actively attending commercial movies, you might fall in love with these impressionistic and inspirational films. Our group known as "Wales Watchers Film Series". which is totally consisted of volunteers, will show these special movies the last Thursday of every month, from September to May (except December). We make the selection from the latest releases for each month. Also the Canada Film Board is assisting us by providing an appropriate short film to compliment that month's main feature. So therefore your interest and support is greatly appreciated. We like to hear from you, as your feedback is very important to us.
